Classification
- stage 5 neuroblast Class
- segmentally-repeated neuroblast Class
Description
Neuroblast that delaminates at S5 in the medial column that generates approximately 6-9 local interneurons, some of which project across the posterior commissure (Schmid et al., 1999). In the embryo, one of these cells can be found in each hemisegment from S2-A8 (Birkholz et al., 2013; Urbach et al., 2016). It does not resume proliferation in the larva (Lacin and Truman, 2016).
Comment
Schmid et al. (1999) comment that NB5-2 may give rise to a larger number of clones, including at least one motorneuron, but were not observed due to observational restrictions.
(Birkholz et al., 2015, Urbach et al., 2016, Schmidt et al., 1997, Schmid et al., 1999, Lacin and Truman, 2016, Birkholz et al., 2013)
